Heather is the Partner responsible for Deloitte’s Olympic and Paralympic relationships and services, and the Managing Partner for Innovation & Brand.
So, at Deloitte, can you give some examples of the kind of work you do?
There are three parts to our London 2012 relationship in Deloitte: delivering services, activating our sponsorship, and integrating with our global activities.
I’m the Partner responsible for Deloitte’s Olympic and Paralympic relationships and services. That means all the secondments we make to LOCOG, the advisory work we provide, and our wider contributions to the Olympic and Paralympic Family, come under my oversight. I’m Deloitte’s Managing Partner for Innovation & Brand: that means that I have Executive responsibility, amongst other things, for our sponsorship of London 2012 and how we activate that across the UK. And I am our lead Partner globally for all Deloitte’s Olympic relationships, coordinating between London, Singapore, Vancouver and the USA on sponsorship relationships the other Deloitte firms are delivering.
What's the best thing about working on a London 2012 project?
I love the energy and challenge that comes from working with a client with such a clear vision and absolute end date to deliver against. The passion and commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values is hugely motivating, whether it’s about Deloitte people winning secondments to LOCOG, delivering pragmatic expert advice to help LOCOG with a business challenge, or taking the London 2012 message into our firm – and through our 11,000 people into our clients, communities, and networks.
What is your favourite Olympic moment?
It has to be the weekend of British dominance on the rowing course then in the velodrome in Beijing in 2008. Huge crowds backing Team GB, awesome sporting performance, and such visible team spirit amongst the rowers and the cyclists. And the sheer pleasure of getting hoarse from singing the national anthem so often!
