Andy is a manager in Information and Technology Risk. He is currently working as Security Integration manager in LOCOG’s Games Operations team.

So what’s it like working at LOCOG right now?

Working at LOCOG and being a part of a project of such scale and significance generates a real buzz and excitement in the office. The Security Team are a core operational team and I work with a number of internal functional areas across the organisation from Venue Design to Human Resources as well as a number of external security stakeholders.

What’s been your best experience so far?

Operationally the best experience so far has been the experience of developing security requirements and understanding how these will translate into operational security measures at Games time.
Other interesting aspects have included attending the regular staff briefings where the likes of Daley Thompson, James Cracknell and even John Major have provided some interesting anecdotes and insights to their experience of previous Olympic Games.

What are you working on at LOCOG?

My role was to initially develop the Venue Security Resource Requirements to develop the lifetime budget. I am now focusing on more operational security projects such as Logistics Security, Transport Security, Personnel Security as well as the integration and handover of Security from the Construction Phase to the Games Operations Phase.

What’s your favourite Olympic moment?

Seeing Sir Steve Redgrave win his fifth consecutive gold medal despite his declaration in 1996 that “If you see me near a boat ever again, you can shoot me”! It was an incredible race, with the Italians nearly spoiling the script but that finish, and the raw emotion that followed, was one of my favourite Olympic moments.
