On 9 September 2012, GB's biggest ever Paralympic team will march through the Olympic Stadium and signal the conclusion of the London 2012 Games. The roar of the crowd will be deafening as the nation swells with pride. GB's finest Paralympic heroes will undoubtedly have changed the face of disability sport in this country forever.

But outstanding performances take years of preparation and that's why we started cheering this team on 5 years ago.

In 2007, we invested £1.7m in disability sport to create the largest programme of its kind in the UK. But it was more than just a financial investment, we invested time and people to ensure we understood the challenge of what support was needed and where it was needed the most, so that every penny would make a difference.

We knew that to secure more podium finishes you must first grow the talent pool, so we created Deloitte Parasport to connect people with a disability to high-quality sporting opportunities. But of course, it's not enough to just identify the talent, you also need to develop it - so we also chose to partner with SportsAid and double the number of bursaries provided through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme to young disabled athletes - enabling these individuals to fulfill their sporting potential without compromising their education.

And with our sights fixed on gold for GB this summer, we've pledged to raise £1m for ParalympicsGB through Deloitte Ride Across Britain, to ensure the team proudly representing our nation are as prepared as they can be.

For Deloitte, it's not just about the moments of glory. From grassroots to gold medals, we're committed to every stage of the journey into the Stadium this summer.
