London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Supporting the 2012 Games

Backing the bid

Deloitte has been committed to the London Games from a very early stage. We were proud to back London’s bid to become host city not just with goodwill but by seconding a partner to be the bid company’s Finance Director.  Since London won the right to host the Games, we continued to provide skills and expertise to support LOCOG in its formative stages. In late 2007, we were delighted to be selected by LOCOG as the Official Professional Services Provider to the London 2012 Games.

Supporting LOCOG

Deloitte’s role in supporting the Games is to help the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG) build a world class organisation to stage a memorable Games and leave a lasting economic, sporting and social legacy.  We’re providing both services and people to the Organising Committee and are involved across a number of LOCOG’s operational areas.

Deloitte’s services to LOCOG include tax, human capital and management consulting, and the projects delivered so far range from security profiling to customer experience consulting and employer tax solutions.

We also operate a secondee programme across the breadth of LOCOG’s organisation, to ensure full-time access to people with the skills they need.

Disability sport

Our commitment to London 2012 goes further than supporting the Organising Committee. Our £1.7m investment in grass roots disability sport is helping to change young lives: the Deloitte investment to date has enabled more than 300 athletes with a disability to receive an award through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme. Hailed as a ‘transformational’ programme by ParalympicsGB and the Minister for the Olympics, the scheme has already supported 33 athletes who competed at the Beijing Paralympic Games in September 2008. See our Disability Sport pages for more information.

Firmwide appeal

London 2012 will be one of the defining features of Deloitte up to, during and beyond the Games. Every one of our 12,000 people has embraced LOCOG’s vision to use the power of the Games to inspire change by acting as ambassadors within the business community. Whether through service delivery, secondment, advisory work, volunteering or a community project, our London 2012 work brings alive the exceptional capabilities and expertise we can offer our clients and illustrates our commitment to the execution of our advice.
